beat the stupid permasealed headlights and completed my first retro!!

Took me 20+ hours...10 on the first headlight because no one wanted to answer my question about the difficulty of prying apart my head light. Found out that it was permasealed and required much more work. The second one was much easier, after I discovered a technique to prying them apart. Also had to clear out all the old permaseal to make room for the butyl sealant. Couple that with limited room in an apartment and you have a big frustrating mess. It was an fun, albeit frustrating, experience all in all! Installed mini h1 projectors with 5000k 35w TRS HIDs.

It is not that no one wanted to answer your question.....you are the only person I'm aware of that has ever wanted to do this on this forum. One can't answer if one doesn't know the answer right? I still don't see the point of all the hassle involved nor the finished product. Point being that if you're happy with the outcome that's all that matters.

I first learned about retrofitting projectors from searching on this forum, which is why it's shocking that you tell me no one's done it. The lights are much brighter now, so it's much safer and more enjoyable to drive at night!

Certainly I could be wrong but I don't recall reading about it here. Either way I'm glad it worked out well and better lighting is always a good thing.

I told you I did retrofit my 2011 headlights and I explained how I did it. I'm sorry but it's not my fault that your headlights were sealed the way they were, all I can say is that I did try to answer your questions to the best of my knowledge. Maybe your headlights are made by a different manufacturer? Anyways, congrats on completing the project, they look great

That's right, sorry I forgot that you tried to help! I didn't mean to bash on anyone...just a tad frustration when I tried to tackle the project. It was a pain in the butt to pry them apart, but in the end, they look great!

It's ok friend, I know how it feels to do a retrofit for the first time and it was frustrating even though mine were not permasealed. I just hope you sealed them up nicely because you don't want them to fog up. Btw, nice job on painting them black, very good look
You can have a look at my album and you'll see my retrofit pics on my 2011.

Those look great - this will be my next project. Mine is a 2008 so I am not sure what seal or sealant I will have to deal with.
