My '11 base has privacy glass on all of the rear windows. Before tinting the front seat side windows, I had them metered at a state inspection station. The front sides measured about 63% VLT (visible light transmission) and the rears measured about 23%.
I was surprised that they metered this dark. This means I can apply tint with VLT greater than 55% to meet state law of 35% minimum. I think 50% film is easy to find, but it would be too dark. 70% and 80% films are around but would meter at something near 50%, too light for the North Carolina summers.
What do you think? Thanks.
