Default LCD display english to metric and back

New to RAV 4. A 2011 Sport SAP. How do you change C to F, liters per 100 km to MPG and back to metric? Thanks for the help.

The book does not show, or I could not find this info.

The only way to do it is by replacing the instrument cluster. I kid you not.

It really s*cks that mother Toyota does not let us children decide how we want the information displayed.

No kidding. I rented a Chevy HHR and you could push a button and go from English to Metric instantly. That would have been handy on my trip to Canada.

Yep! - But it would cost Toyota the ghastly sum of few dollars more per vehicle, which would decline as the initial R & D capital cost was amortised over the course of vehicle production.

At least Toyota could include a calculator with each vehicle - but that would be an ongoing, non-amortised cost. A production fix actually would be less expensive for Toyota.

Canada is really messed up with metric, in 2011 we buy limber both English and metric 2 x 4, sheet goods metric, most speedometer are in both, buying groceries is a gamble both lbs and grams.

Seeing metric on a dash board is OK but to make sense of it MPG is what I grew up with, converting is a mind set and a calculator makes it easier, but the book shows by way of pictures both English and Metric.

Thanks for the heads up!

Maybe Toyota wants to avoid this? Causing communication loss to the driver?
