2012 rav4 limited: what kind of head unit?

I just bought the 2012 rav4 limited with the premium plus package (no navigation/ no entune) I asked the dealer if the head unit was a jbl and he said that all the rav4's have a jbl head unit!!??
It is a double din head unit and the only marking on it says 518C3
Also they said it had 6 speakers, which it seems that they count the tweeters as 2 of the 6!!??
I have included a pic of the head unit.
When I go to crutchfield it asks if it is with JBL or without. Can anyone tell me what I should choose?

I have the same HU in my base model. I have not seen another type of HU in a 2012 model.

Does anyone have a 2012 with different HU? please post a pic.

Any yes they do count the tweeters as speakers...

The dealer is wrong. The JBL system was dropped for the 2012 model year. You can always tell a JBL system by the JBL logo on the head unit and on the speakers. What you have there is the basic audio system. IMHO the Limited should come with something better than that.

Good question. I'm betting that you pick the "JBL" option IF your car has the "JBL" subwoofer upgrade which includes an additional amplifier in the rear cargo panel. On the 2011 limiteds i test drove last year this was what the JBL option consisted of- the speaker grills also had a JBL label.
Unless you have a subwoofer I suggest you pick the non-JBL option.

BTW Toyota head units are not made by JBL- they are made by Fujitsu Ten, a long time Japanese commercial audio manufacturer that also made the now defunct aftermarket brand known as "Eclipse"

Read the post above yours. There is no JBL option for 2012.

My original 2008 head unit is made by Fujitsu Ten. But I replaced it with the equivalent unit from a 2011 which is made by Panasonic. The new unit has much better sound quality and the built in XM tuner.

I have a MR2 Spyder and I'm triying to install this type of radio in my 2003 car.

Somebody knows if the panasonic radio unit includes the handsfree system? or it's an exterior extra unit?

Anyone have a photo of the car connectors that plug into the unit?

A diagram?

It's Panasonic according to the label. The Scions have Pioneer head units.
