Has anyone tried that or noticed the space available with the OEM headunit removed? If I could put it there it would probably be a lot easier to install then trying to get it under the seat or in other locations.
My JL Audio Cleansweep is up under the dash between the head unit and glove boxes so there should be enough room for a small modern amp. My amp is behind the rear seat in that shallow storage area.

Thanks, Radrgn, that Pioneer satelitte unit is listed as 5.5" x 7" x 1.1"
RTexasF: The JL Clean Sweep is 8-1/4" x 1-1/2" x 4-3/8"

That really helps give me an idea of what I will be working with.
I think the main problem with the Toy head unit is they have built in a SRS sound enhancer which one can't disable. Sometimes it sounds really good, other times it sounds pretty bad, depends on the music and recording. I tend to like clean audio and use equipment to get the best out of it instead of trying to doll up the sound with ambiance enhancers. Rather then go the Clean Sweep route, I'll probably just wait and decide on getting a better head unit with more power. One good thing is now I don't have to pay for the extra cost of Blue Tooth with the Toy BlueLogic unit, which works great.
Either way, I may need to add an amp and I think that might work to put one in that space.
Thanks, guys.

Hey Doane2u,
I recently bought a 2010 Rav4 Limited with the JBL sound system. I am thinking of upgrading the amp myself. Does your Rav have the JBL system? If so, do you know of an amp that will easily integrate with all the speakers and wiring already installed in the car?

I also purchased a new head unit, the Pioneer AVH-P4400BH. There was a problem with the factory radio not working and after replacing it with a new refurb one, it was still not working. After looking into the issue, someone said that when they replaced the amp, it started working. So that's where I'm at. The new Pioneer head unit is not working either So I'm pretty sure it's the amp at this point

Mike

Hi, Mike: I don't have the JBL unit, so can't comment, but there are some others here who can probably help. All the best and good luck.

doane2u, I know this is an old thread but what did you end up doing? I am kicking around several ideas right now.

I only installed the speakers I mentioned earlier. I never upgraded the amp. I ended up selling the RAV4, wanted something more sporty to drive and didn't really need the cargo room that much as my wife's Honda Fit is capable of carrying most of the things we need. I do miss the torque of that v6 though!
