Pull out all the trims next to the door sill. They just pop out. You can go under the side of the carpet of the front passenger seat and up behind the glove box. Once you start looking it will become obvious.

I believe that that is a reverse signal wire that could be tapped to get the reverse signal you need for the HU. The connector in question is the white 28 pin harness that connects into the back of the factory radio, so it should be pretty easy to get to. Pin #2
I have rav4 2012 v6 base non jbl and my 28 pin connector has empty pin2
No luck

:-) I just did this yesterday. I fished the RCA cable thru the back door and rubber cover to the passenger side panel in the cargo area. (where the jack is) I have been reading posts here about removing that passenger cargo side cover, but really didnt want to have to do that.

Instead I pulled out the 2 carpet covered "lids" for the underneath storage areas in the cargo area. I removed the 4 screws for the smaller storage bin (furthest from tail) and yanked it up. There were only a few plastic tabs to hold it.

Then I was able to fish the RCA cable down via the jack door. Basically it came out near the interior edge of that side panel. Picture the cable going straight down along the jack and out into the exposed cargo area. I simply ran it along the edge of the side panel down to the foot area of the rear passenger rear seat. There it went under the bottom door jamb covers (not sure what they are called) along the side to the front passenger door jamb cover and finally up behind the passenger kick panel. Cable is not exposed anywhere

Pretty easy

Pin 2 is top row, 2nd from left between two empty slots. You don't have a pin there?
