I have a 2012 Limited without the Nav package. I am trying to figure out what capabilities I can expect with various smartphones given that I don't have the Nav package.
Lets start with the iphone 5. From some earlier threads it seems like if I pair such a device using Bluetooth, I should be able to get voice dialing to work by pushing and holding the home button on the iphone. Is that reasonable to expect? The thread I saw was talking about this working for an iphone 4 (ie no Siri). If I have an iPhone 4s or 5 would this allow me to interact with Siri? This would probably be the best setup since the only downside would be having to locate the phone and push the home button, and that would only be needed when I really wanted to use the phones voice commands. I have also seen posts on macrumors about this Belkin adapter that connects to the aux audio in and should allow access to Siri. This seems like it should work fine, but the down side would be the phone is basically on the aux and the phone would be paired with the adapter rather than the car so I loose any of the rav4 bluetooth integration features. The other option would be to use the usb port to connect the iphone, what would be the capabilities with that setup? Again the main goal would be to Siri interaction. |
