I have found the manuals that came with my new limited pretty good, except for the display audio system, which is totally different and shows a "car" button my HU does not have. I know I can access these functions because I managed to do it once but I cannot duplicate what I did or find it in the manual. Did Toyota reprogram my system via XM or is it just too many lost brain cells?
Anybody know? (about the functions, not the brain cells)

That function is standard on all 2012 Toyota Camry's with display audio so I'm sure it could also be possible on the 2012 Rav4. Btw, my previous post was supposed to be humorous, no need to delete it JB!

My manuals and the ones Toyota has online all show a HU with a "car" button mine does not have, and tell me to use that button to access tpms and fuel economy history. I think I accessed it before by pressing steering wheel button(s) in combination.
My dealer is very unresponsive to questions. After all I only paid them $32k a couple of months ago. I guess that's what happens when they are the only dealer for 100 miles. I love my rav4. I just wish I could have purchased it from another dealer.

We're trying to figure out how to display this info as well. Handed the dealer a little shy of $35K for our all-bells-and-whistles 2012 Rav4 V6 Ltd last week, and now that the deal is done it's suddenly remarkably hard to get anyone at the dealership to return a call. :-P

I got it to come up when the car was brand new by randomly pushing combinations of buttons. I believe I tried them all again recently and it did not work. Toyota updates our systems over an XM channel. When the car was new it presented the surround option then said there was no processor, but after awhile the menu went away. It could be in the software to delete the menu after some number of attempts at access, but if there is it must be on the hard drive, since the presets are not retained. When I disconnected power from the HU it lost all the presets but still does not present the option for surround.
I had trouble lights come on when the car was a few weeks old, so i hooked up my elm327 to the OBD2 port and wrote down the trouble codes. I called the dealer, and they said that the guy who knows all that stuff would call me back. He didn't. I fixed the loose connector myself. My experience is similar, that the dealer does not care about anything but my $. They have that, so if I want more from them they want more from me. If I were not able to fix my own cars I probably would have done better to buy the Forester. I don't think it even needs a governor to keep it under 140

yesterday asked me if it was ok to download software updates. My smartphone was in the car, so it might have used that, I'm not sure. I know I read in another thread that the XM was used for updates.

I don't think you can even upgrade XM through XM. |
