Default Storing Garmin wire under steering wheel

Is it safe to store about a foot of Garmin wire in that empty space under the steering wheel?

I almost always drive with my Garmin GPS but when I park I store the slack in that space right under the wheel. If I take a short trip and do not need the Garmin I would like to keep it stored there but I obviously don't want it to mess with the steering.

Does any one have any pictures of that area with the wheel off? In my many hours of reading threads here I know I have seen that picture.

Why do I use 85 octane with my Rav? Because I can.

Actually I meant how do you run your wire from the power plug to your Garmin? I am always trying to find better ways to do it. Mine goes from the power plug by the cup holders to around the top part of my steering wheel (in the groove to hide the wires) to where I keep the Garmin above the left driver vent next to the window.

lighter plug, to the passenger side, go behind and under the center console, route it to the driver side, go up and behind the kick panel and come out of the little fabric where the steering column meets the instrument cluster.
