crappy sound system?

Just got a new 2012 Rav4 Limited & I'm really shocked at how sorry the stereo sounds. It's like I'm listening inside a tin can. My previous car was an '06 Tacoma & the sound system in it was far better. Is this a common issue & is there anything short of replacing the whole thing that I can do? Thanks.

Wellll, you kinda are listening inside a tin can.

Hopefully you aren't one of those like I hear at stop lights who want the tin can to rattle.

IMO, the Bose in my Limited sounds great.

this is the nav/entune sound system btw. Thanks for the links, be nice if just replacing the speakers would be enough. I'm not looking for some perfect sound & no, I don't rattle the windows but I would like to hear more than the treble. thanks again,

I have actually had a lot of success with the sound system when streaming via bluetooth on my phone and using a downloaded equalizer. I set the hu base and treble to +2 and let the equalizer on my phone do the rest. I am not claiming it sounds amazing but it's light years better than hu alone.

Welcome to the crappy sounding Entune club..... I am very angry that a $32,000 automobile can have this pathetic excuse for a stereo system!!

I know, I test drove it for 2 days so it's my fault. Another stupid thing about this system, why run a camera feed to the rear view mirror instead of the Entune screen that is fully capable of displaying the image?? I suppose to charge $300.00 for a special mirror that shows a postage stamp sized image, then you are sol on the Homelink buttons for the rear view mirror!!

The best sound I can get out of the Entune is to use my iPod or listen to a CD. The satellite radio and regular FM radio sound awful. I was also wondering how loud (what number) do most of you have to crank up to in order to hear the music, talk, etc..... I usually am at 30 or more on the highway, which seem outrageous to me.

I turned in a leased 09 Nissan Rogue in September that had a much better sounding Bose system than the Rav. I also have a Sonata that has the most amazing stereo system (Dimension) of ANY car I've ever heard, and it's the mid level option. We also have a Lex RX with the "acclaimed" Mark Levinson system, but the Sonata beat it hands down.

It's called Equalizer by Smart Android Apps and works perfect with Pandora.

Upgrading the speakers will be a positive move. That was the first thing I did prior to stepping up to a JL Audio Cleansweep, amp, self powered sub, etc. The speakers alone enhanced everything but didn't have the impact I was looking for.
