Default JBL upgrade kit

Have anyone here tried the JBL upgrade kit for the non JBL rav4s?
Here in europe Toyota delivers a JBL kit (part number PZ490-X0230-00)
I think it is pretty much the same as you guys get oem in some of your models in the US.
How good is the sound in the JBL system vs stock system.

Here is a link to the mounting instruction:

Trusa,
I just ran across your post and find it very interesting that kits like this are not available in the USA. It not clear to me what model years these kits are applicable to. Please post more information about this as I'm very curious as to whether I could purchase these kits. I am also curious as to how European circuit diagrams for similar RAV4 model years differ from those in N America. Can you comment on this?
Regards,
grbud

This kit is available for all Euro gen 3 rav4 (2006-2012), both diesel and petrol engine. I am pretty sure the it will fit the US models as well, only have to lengthen the wire to the sub in the rear door becaus of the longer US model. The audio wiring is pretty much the same for all gen 3 rav4s, US or Euro.
In europe all factory accessories part number start with PZ
I dont think a US toyota dealer can order this becaus the part system will not reconice the number. The US uses a different partnumber system for Oem accessories I think. I have tried ordering factroy accessories from US here in norway with no luck (I work at a toyota dealership).
But you can always try...

I havent tested this system in a rav4, so I dont know if it is any good. But it should be pretty much the same as you have standard in some of your models in US. I have installed a kit like this in a Toyota Yaris, and it was a HUGE improvement.

But it's pricy...here in norway the price is 8800 NOK, wich is about
1550 US dollars

Default EU JBL Upgrade kits

I Googled the part number included in your original thread and it appears the upgrade makes use of a JBL HU already in the vehicle. Then basically the kit provides for direct, fused battery power, an amp, 8 JBL speakers and a sub, plus the wiring harnesses to connect it all up. Please correct me if I'm wrong here.

The major issue I see is that JBL radios are not in RAVs that don't already have the JBL system. I've asked this group about making use of a JBL radio without an amp and have heard it won't work. What do you think?
Also the listed price was 1142.33 euro?? (not sure what a rounded E is).

It is for non-JBL radio. JBL radio is not available in europe as far as I know...at least not here in norway. This kit works with non JBL HU's...
1143 euros is about 1550 dollars...
I want to know if it is any good before I buy it...or should i make my own kit (amp, new speakers, sub)?

i won't blow that kind of money on sound system!!!
i'm content with 4 speakers. in fact, i don't need to crowd my truck with speakers!
For that kind of money, you can get custom wheels!
