I have an 08 Rav4 4cylinder AWD with a little over 100k on it, I need to replace the belt; I'm the DIY type and can't see paying $100 to replace a $29 belt. Is there a diagram available for the routing? Is it too tight of a squeeze to replace myself? Any special tools needed?
There should be a routing diagram sticker on the underside of the hood. I've heard it's easier if you remove the wheel and fender liner on the passenger side.
I think that I will bite the bullet and have the belt installed at Jiffy Lube or somewhere.... I've done all of the other maintenance on the vehicle and with my back problems, it's worth it to throw them a few bucks....:nerd
I replaced week ago.
I had no SST. I used flexible head ratchet with 19mm socket and a closed end wrench as extension.
Removing old one was easier than install new one.
You might need someone to hold the belt to the pulleys under the hood
while you're under the tire well. I did myself though.
