If you have the knock, please list your vehicle (Engine: V6/4cyl, Drive System: 2WD vs. AWD, Trim Model: Base, Sport, and Mileage). If you have had any work done to remedy the problem, please list what that was and the result.
I'll start: Engine: V6 Drive System: AWD Model: Base Mileage: 5K Work done: We took the RAV4 in to Middletown Toyota in Middletown, CT. They replaced the strut mounts and struts on both the driver's and passenger's side, and then realigned everything. Result: Still knocking/popping. It does seem to be getting worse (more frequent, louder). I'm definitely concerned from a safety standpoint. Four attempts at two dealers. Both bushings and towers replaced, noise is still there. Was told by service rep that Toyota has a handfull of cases on this that they are trying to sort out. Toyota KNOWS they have a design flaw and at the moment have no fix for this.
Currently in arbitration with Toyota to get a new vehicle.

Sounds like popcorn popping under the hood while taking low speed turns left or right...

RAV4, Limited
V6 Auto trans 2WD Current mileage: 3300 Getting the same front suspension "knock" when going over ANY speed bump or bi-level road surface. Most noticable on the passenger side. |

Yes, that knock is annoying from a new car. It is like worn shocks or something bad with the tie rods. If I go at city speeds and hit a bump or joints on the road the suspension knocks. It is like taking a hammer and hitting the strut.
I wonder if it is caused by the SRS system, since the wheels for a split second lose traction while in the air. |
