Resetting the maintenance light

As I keep having to look this up....

Quote:

Resetting Maintenance Req'd light.

Turn the key to the 'on' position.

Press the trip button meter until it displays the “Trip A" odometer.

Turn they key to the off position.

Then while holding the trip meter down, turn the key to the 'on' position. 4 blinking dashes will display and they will count down.

When the last dash disappears 000000 is displayed to indicate the maintenance counter has been reset.

Does all Rav comes with that and what maintenance requirements gets a reminder?

Thanks for the reminder. I still have to reset the reminder light for our 4.3. My wife noticed it and called me right away to tell me there's a problem with the RAV4 because yellow light was on.

All RAVs have this feature. The light comes on 5000 miles after it was last reset. That's all.

Mine came on during a ski trip to Mammoth a couple of weeks ago. I followed the instructions that someone posted in the forum on how to reset it. Works like a charm!

Mine never has come on. I actually went 10,000km's (6000m) before an oil change and it hadn't come on. Are you sure the base models have the feature?

yes, my US base '07 has that feature...

both mine have that feature and both are bases..........i have noticed it starts flashing at about 4500 miles........so im always in the service drive at toyota about 500 miles before the oil actualy needs to be replaced..........

Is it necessary to zero the trip A odometer before doing this?
