Agreed. I push the Start button and release it immediately. The engine will crank and start on its own without you needing to keep your finger on the button.

The electric steering wheel lock makes a "grinding" sort of noise when you press the stop engine button. Sometimes it is louder depending on the attitude of the steering wheel.

I have noticed this same sound & it sounds like a 'screeching' to me at very cold temps. I'm thinking I may have a weakening soleniod motor.
