Hello everyone,
Have anyone had any problems with the ignition coil? In September the dashboard lights turned on VSC, 4WD and the engine light, I took the car to the dealer and they said it was the ignition coil # 4 (car has 55,000 miles) so the warranty won't cover the problem, I end it up paying $430. 3 months later the dasboard light turned back on, I took the car back to the dealer and they said that this time is ignition coil #4 and they want to charge me another $430. I got so pist that I called Toyota customer service but they said that no one had reported any problems and that there are not enough complaints to submit a recall for those parts. So if you have any problems with ignition colis, can you please call 800-331-4331 and file a claim. The dealer is now recommending to change all of them for $895.00 Please let me know. Mike |

That's crazy - how can the same one do that so quickly. Is there something specific to your driving conditions that could cause this?

I agree, just buy the coils and do it yourself. I would even replace the plugs while I'm at it eventhough they're long life plugs. The total will still be less than half of what the dealer charged for one coil alone.

I just had mine to the dealer for a PO353 (bad coil in the #3 cylinder - rear bank). I't going to be $320 to fix since they have to remove and replace the plenum to get back there.

About 1.5 months ago, at 57K miles, our 2006 RAV4 experienced a bad coil (#4) and it cost around $200 for my local Toyota dealership to replace (parts and labor).
