Default scraping sound coming from car

Hi,

I noticed a metallic scarping sound coming from my car. It occurs at slow, parking lot speeds (not sure about high speed, the wind noise might block it out), and sounds like metal scraping on metal, or possibly something metallic scraping on the ground. I looked under the car though and don't see anything obviously amiss (nothing hanging down). I hear the sound without breaking and when I break too.

Plan to take it to the dealership, but any ideas on what it could be?

Thanks

Could it be the same problem discussed in this thread.

Remove the noisy wheel and check for a small rock or pebble caught between the brake rotor and dust shield.

Put it in neutral, jack up one wheel at a time and spin each wheel by hand. Bet you'll find it.

Maybe go for a car wash first before you remove the wheels?

I had the same problem with my 2009 RAV4, an intermittent and inconsistent metallic noise from the rear. There was a rock stuck between the rotor and the backing plate. I read several forums and this was a common problem that helped my mechanic quickly solve the issue. Good luck!
