I've been away from the forums for a very long time.
We've never done anything about the gas pedal/floor mat recall. Have they determined that there really isn't anything wrong with the CTS gas pedal? I've read something about how they are now "modifying" the gas pedal (both CRS and Denso) by cutting off a sliver to prevent floor mat interference. But I can't find any recent posts about modifying with "shims" or pedal replacement. Can someone get me up to date on this issue? Thanks |

Welcome back, Jim! Ever wish you had gotten that CR-V? Some members here got the shim fix on their CTS pedals but many didn't like the springy loose feel afterwards. Many of them complained and got newly designed pedal assemblies installed. Check with wing_woo, I think he had it done.
The final word on the "unintended acceleration" debacle? As for my Denso pedal, here's a before and after trimming shot:

As was said above. I'll add that I opted out on the recall. Dealer gave me a choice whether to have it performed or not. I said, good. Cuz, no, thanks.

Thanks for the update info, JuneBug.
For the record, I never really believed that there was ever anything inherently wrong with any of the "affected" vehicles, especially after hearing the replay of the phone conversation between that nitwit in California and the 911 operator where she asked him if he had tried shifting into neutral and/or shutting off the key and he hemmed and hawed and finally yelled "I'm too busy trying to control the car!" Yeah. But not too busy to pick up a cell phone, dial it, and have a conversation... Right.
