Question ROTOR and PAD BRAND SUGGESTION

Hi people,

I have tried researching on a few good aftermarket brands for rotors and pads but I have got very confused. One says this brand's the best, the other says it's the worst. (Brembo, ebc, wagner, powerslot, raybestos etc etc) v. confusing

I would personally prefer OEM rotors, but at ~$130 a piece I can not afford to purchase them.

  1. I would appreciate some guidance on a rotor-pad combination.

  2. Btw, my rav4 does not have a third row, though it does have a belt strap thing of some sort that allows a third row–I think–?. Is it considered a third row seater or not?)

Thank you!

I have used Brembo rotors I got form Tire Rack and they were a great replacement rotor for the price.

You can check Amazon or Rock Auto for parts & pricing as well. A few months ago, I replaced the rotors & pads on an '05 Base with Raybestos Professional series and they're working well. I have the Wagner ThermoQuiet ceramic pads ready for an '06 LTD V6, but haven't installed them yet since after flushing the brake fluid out, the pedal feel was much better that didn't require changing yet. I've used Brembo rotors made for OEM and they were good too. However, I would recommend against using any Duralast products from Autozone, they wear out quickly and squeal much also.

I just got this kit... 2007 Toyota RAV4 Power Stop Brake Kit - 116 Reviews on Powerstop Rotors & Brake Pad Kit I have not had a chance to install them yet, so I can't give you a direct product review of them yet. But I can tell you I have a co-worker who has Tacoma and he did the Power Stop brake kit about a year ago and he loves them. He said the only thing that he noticed was it took longer for the pads to fully break in than listed in the instructions. Once I get a chance to install this kit I will give a review.

You guys have been very helpful.

I'm leaning towards the Raybestos Advanced technology Rotors.

Thank you!

...now for pads ... Any ideas?

Should I stick with the same brand. Do same brand rotor/pads work better together?

I like the Toyota OEM pads. They last long, don't produce a lot of brake dust on the wheel, and are reasonably priced from online dealers.
