Default How do I "Lubricate the Propellor Shaft"?

I've been having the dealer do major services but now that the car is out of warrantee I think I'll do them myself.

Can someone tell me how I "lubricate the propellor shaft"? I was not aware that the car even had a propellor.

Is your vehicle 2wd or 4wd?

With all due respect, I would suggest you continue to take your RAV to the dealer.

well, if he does not try, then he'll never learn. After giving him the right info or guidance, let him decide if he wants to attempt it.

Kyle_morley, Just check Junebug's profile for the repair manuals and see what you find.

No propeller, but you have a propeller shaft if you have 4WD. Some car terminology is borrowed from marine tradition.

I thought you were supposed to retourque the propeller shaft bolts, not aware of lubricating.

Kyle_morley, you owe me $10.
Rav4 and Highlander 4WD do not need propeller shaft lubrication!

Default Is it required for RAV4?

Are you guys sure that "propeller shaft lubrication" has to be done on RAV4?

Based on this http://www.mayfieldtoyota.com/downlo...hedule%20E.pdf maintenance schedule, this work is for other models.

Welcome, but I believe post #6 covered that.

Hey Kyle, if you do find a grease fitting on the driveshaft hit the muffler bearing while you're under there too.
