Default 2009 4 x 4- 4 cyl auto

My wife hit a large piece of metal last night and blew out the right front tire. I put the spare on and drove it home. The "4 x 4" light was on all of the way home...way past 25 mph. I remember reading that it was supposed to shut off automatically past 25 mph. I shut it off when I got home and re-started it. The "4 x 4" light was off. She drove it today and said that light was on the whole trip(60 miles). I started it in the garage and it was off. What is going on there? Any ideas? BTW, we haven't put the new tire on yet, but is on the back hatch.

Is your spare the same size as the other wheels? I know my spare is new and when I put in on, because it was never used, makes the RAV higher at that wheel. Get the old tire fixed and back and let us know if this fixes it.
