2009 Known Issues?

Hello everyone! I am looking at picking up a used RAV4. I am hoping to get something with lower miles hopefully less than 60k. I do a TON of highway driving. Also, I live in Michigan, so 4x4 is a must.

Currently I am targeting the 2009. Is this a good year for the RAV4? Solid engine 4 cylinder or 6? What about the transmission?

The 2009 model year is a good one. Both engines are excellent, but I would lean toward the V6 and its 5-speed transmission. But be sure to listen for a possible tranny whine from 40-60 mph.
