Default I4 Oil Sensor

I have an 08 Rav 4x4 with I4 and automatic. Lately the oil light has been flickering when the dipstick is registering full. I've got a new sensor on order. Has anyone come across a breakaway drawing of the parts in that area so I have a better idea of what I'm up against when it gets here?

Are you certain that the problem is with the sensor, and not with the oil pump? If it's the latter, driving the vehicle with low oil pressure means impending if not actual engine damage. If the oil light is flashing because of low oil pressure the pressure has fallen below about 5psi, the triggering point for most pressure detection switches.

I'm pushing 195k so it's off warranty. Pretty sure it's not an oil pressure issue. The light will flicker at 120k, but quits when you back off below 90. If the oil pressure was low, it would be on more at idle when its pumping slower, not less. Engine seems to run ok...no rattling lifters or anything.

I've been told that some of the newer Fords and Chevy's have a small screen in front ot the sensor... if the screen plugs there is no pressure getting to the sensor. I was hoping to see the parts breakdown in case there was something like that happening here.

Have you already downloaded the repair manuals from JuneBugs profile page? Might be a good place to start.
