Have been reading up on some of the different threads concerning the pitiful sound coming form the OEM HU and speakers that came with the base 2007 RAV4....which we recently purchased. I've read most of your comments and actions and was wondering does Crutchfield provide items that other vendor like Amazon does not? The Polk speakers you bought are being offered on Amazon for ~ $55/pair vs Crutchfield's $99.
I too am looking at the easiest/cheapest way to improve the sound quality. Initially thought the HU would be easiest way to go but I kinda like the stock look vs rigging up an aftermarket HU. My concern in replacing the speakers is the removal of the interior door panels.....never done that before. Are there instructions/images on how to do this? Thought I read somewhere that Crutchfield sold some type of gadget to remove the door panels....or was it the facing for the stock radio? Can't remember which. Any other hints in removal/installation? Thanks for your help. -Mike in KC
