Aha, thanks! Knock on wood, my RAV's never had a flat (whereas my mom's 4Runner seems to be a magnet for any sort of sharp objects). Hoping my 4.3 can live up to the standards of her predecessors!

I hate google + sometimes. I wanted linkes because the images are huge but it will not let me.

LOL I am not sure I would want to use it being that old. but its good to hear PR keeps the roads clean!. mind you I think half the punctures I get are from industrial sites or building areas, bit hard to avoid in the trade, and I know you are in a far different line of work .

I bought a 1999 rav4 about six months ago with 1500 original miles on it. I had my toyota previa for over twenty years and after over 300,000 miles the engine needed replaced, since I had already raised the kids I didn't feel a need for a large vehicle anymore. I don't miss my previa after getting the rav4. I have one question though I am trying to find an original trailer hitch for the rav and want to know if the original was just the aluminum one or if you could get the black steel one that you find on the newer rav's

Talking Happy at last (second owner)

My (now ex) husband bullied me into buying a Camry in '99 instead of my my true desire, a RAV4. I finally got my 99 white, 4 door this summer. It was parked two blocks from home with 4sale sign. 3 grand (+1k in maintenance and replacement of missing parts) later, I love this thing! I feel safer when I road warrior to work on HWY 880. Much easier to park than the Camry. No scraps or bumps from the disrespecting either! - and I park in a high school lot. The Camry seemed to be a ding and scrape magnet.

The new ones just seem like the soccer mom specials to me. Toyota has forgotten that some of us city dwellers have to park on the street and the smaller wheel base makes all the difference. Hadn't realized how much I missed having a back hatch and rear window wiper like my old 4WD Tercel wagon did.

And the fact that they all (all crossovers today) look the same, having similar contours and lines. And if you're a person not into cars, you'd probably guess that a CRV is an Outlander.

WHAT IS THIS?

love my Rav4! I drove the first gen ones while working at Toyota as a lot person. Not a whole lot of guts but they were fun...especially the stick shift!

I have a 2007 V6 Sport Rav4 now...got her brand new. Has been through everything. Bad weather and all. Handled everything thrown at it. Drove my wife home in it, our daughter, etc. Still going strong and I plan on driving it till it can't be driven anymore.

I've been in 2 accidents and have come away unscathed. First one, t-boned someone turning left. Second accident was last year, got into a truck sandwich on the freeway. Traffic came to a dead stop, I stopped. The truck behind me had no time to react. Chevy Colorado smucked me and pushed me right into the Silverado. I thought the Rav was done...nope...drove away. Colorado was non-roadable. Front end smashed right up and leaking fluids. After all the info was exchanged, hopped back into the Rav and continued my way up to the Whistler Bike Park for a day of shredding!
