battery died !!

The battery just died on my 2016 XLE only 30 months and 20K miles this is the first time a battery die to soon between all the leased vehicles I had. I noticed the starter has been a bit weak for the past week until it finally died. Iím a bit upset having to buy a battery since I only have 6 months left on the lease.

Is the battery not covered under your 3/36k warranty?

Mine lasted 4 years almost but the positive post was leaky and so when I changed it the terminal broke because of the corrosion. Had to buy a terminal at vatozone and also crimp a new ring terminal on one of the wires.

IIRC, the battery is covered fully for a period of time, then pro-rated through the remaining warranty period. Please donít quote me on this though.

If your lease is about up, go to the junk yard and buy a used battery. I have 50k on my 2015 RAV and the battery is still good (knock on wood). Batteries are expensive these days.

Ours is 49 months and the OEM battery is still going strong. Check CL and junk yards - may find one pretty cheap to get by.

Angry

At four years and six months after purchase, the regular six month dealer check reported that the battery needed to be replaced. A battery costing $185 (Australia) for replacement which lasted only 60 months is very unimpressive. I wonder how often this problem occurs?

The battery on my Corolla lasted 18 months. They pro-rated it and it was more expensive than a battery from the auto parts store.

Remember when DieHard batteries had a 7 year warranty? Some even had lifetime! How you are lucky to find a 3 year warranty. I bought the last one off Rockauto. Got a great deal!

I somehow got the deal of a lifetime from a Toyota dealership. I needed a new battery in my Yaris(which isn't sold at Costco - which would be my go-to for any car battery purchase, and well, any purchase I can make there!) and the Toyota Premium battery was $89 - pretty much cheaper than any of the batteries at Costco!

It still amazes me the difference in parts pricing by dealership!
