Toyota Care coverage

Today, I went in for my 15K mile maint (just tire rotation) and they marked air filter and cabin filter needs attention... did not replace it... does Toyota Care not cover it? I have 1 more visit in 6 mo before my 2 yr Toyota Care is done.

Also, if Toyota Care does not cover it, I guess the prepaid maintenance would not cover it either?

Not sure about the 2yr Toyota Care but the Toyota Care plus(4yrs) covers the cabin and engine air filter at my dealer, just had mine and my wife's Prius done the end of August, I had already replaced the cabin filters, so they gave us the filters for next time.

Ah... they're trying to upsell. Seems it is recommended at 30k miles, not 15k. I'll try to remember to ask them to replace it under Toyota Care, since they identified it and it'd still be within the 2 yr period.

It's almost guaranteed to get an upsell at your service visit. Just stick to what is required and not recommended. If you have any question to the condition of the filter you can easily pop it out and inspect it yourself.

Purchasing and replacing the air filters yourself is an inexpensive and a easy way to get more familiar with your vehicle.

If i recall nothing except oil changes are covered in toyotacare that comes with the vehicle (2 year one). They tried to sell me $80 airfilters but just replaced them myself since I am not a rich person.

You can get a set of both for around $20-30 air and cabin filters for the car, DIY doesnt even take 15-20 min for both. Youtube some videos, very easy process.

The cabin air filter is not covered by Toyota Care but the dealer will be happy to bill the car owner a bundle of cash for installing one even the filter is not due for replacement.

Can we wait that long until 30K? I usually replace both air/cabin yearly (10-12k).

My Forester is every 12k miles. Annual replacement is probably a good idea for gas cars...

But with the RAV4 hybrid running the engine much less, the replacement time should be longer.
