Question Key Fob Battery Replacement Did Not Work...

Am I missing anything... did some internet searches as well as searching the forums...

My key fob died, so I assumed it was the battery. I took it apart and ordered a new battery (was going to be out of town). Put in the new battery when I got back and the key fob is not working any longer. I tried a second battery, same result. Our spare key is working just fine.

Is there anything besides a dead key-fob that it could be?

We have the 3-button key for our 2015 LE

This is the base model.
Still a turn key, no push button. The key still works fine, looks like the chip is RFID and separate from the lock/unlock buttons.

You can swap batteries between remotes to determine the culprit. Make sure you inserting battery in the correct polarity.

Finally got around to swapping the batteries between the two remotes... and it works fine in the other key... So I have a fob issue.

Will have to start looking into what it takes to change out the fob itself (inside the key).

Most likely the transmitter part of the key is dead. Just so you know the transmitter is separate from transponder that allows the car to run. If you only have 1 working transmitter you'll have to have a dealer or locksmith replace the key.

Does the key start the car and just the lock/unlock buttons aren't working? You can buy a another keyfob from ebay and take the GUTS out and put it in the original keyfob. Then program it with techstream
