Hi czGu, from a different topic about the Hood shake/vibration, I learned there are struts/dampers with different pressure (lifting power), you may want to investigate about that possibility before its time to trade-in for an XLE or Limited. Good luck!

2. Push buttons in front and on liftgate to open and close liftgate.
3. Open position adjustable. Can stop at any position when the door opening or closing.
4. Can manually open the liftgate.
5. Anti-pinch protection sensors.
6. Anti-theft feature
7. Driving protection
8. Beeping signal
9. (Option) Open and/or close liftgate by scanning foot.

This looks similar to the arrangement on my son's Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. A thick motorized strut on the driver's side that has the mechanism, and a regular strut on the passenger side. Doesn't the factory RAV4 power liftgate have a motorized strut on both sides? Seems like they would have to work in sync.

Help RAV4World members help you by providing your car's operating location in your profile page. Climate can cause a RAV4 in Dallas Wisconsin to experience a different set of issues when compared to the same model in Dallas Texas.

My question is have you installed it yet - how much time did it take - and does it work well? Maybe that was 3 questions.

1. No, I have not bought. a). Price is too high. b). It's from China (Taobao.com). I'll have business trip to China in October. So I still have time to search.
2. Installation requires removing lift gate panel. I think it's not difficult to do. Time is not problem to me. hours, days ....
3. Don't know yet.

If it's anything like what I had on my '12 Highlander SE then the answer is no, there is only one motorized strut and it's on the drivers side.

That is one heavy hatch too! My struts blew and the motor couldn't lift it, nor could I for that matter!

I've finished power lift gate installation. That installation package cost me $550. I toke back from China by myself. Installation was not difficult. But I had some wiring problems. The color of some wires were not same. I think the colors in installation instruction are for China version of RAV4. US version has different colors. I had to try one by one to find out the correct wires.

After installation, I did some test: Front button to open the back door (that bottom cannot close the door). One button installed on the back door can close the door, but cannot open it. Key unlock can remote open and close the door. I have tested adjusting highs of door opening. It works fine. Manually open the lift gate has no problem. Also anti-pinch protection and driving protection work fine.

I've fixed front push button can open but cannot close door problem. The installation instruction says 2 wires from front push button connects to rear door switch. But didn't say which wire connect to which on the door switch. If connected wrong, then the button can only open door, but not close it.

Now I can answer your questions. I've installed. It toke my whole weekend, about 7 hours. Most time I was searching website and contacting the company for answers. It works very good. I can remote open and close door using original key. I can adjust height. It can stop at any position when it's opening or closing. Also it has anti pinch function.

Nice work! But why you need the power lift gate? I have that with my XLE but I hate it. It open and close really slow.
