Car Wash damage.

It seems this is a common problem with the RAV4.
My usual car wash place that has been good for all of my current and previous vehicles (including a 2007 Matrix) hates the RAV4.
I the total of 3 trips thru it in the 3 weeks I have owned this car, I have lost the front license plate 2 times, had the molding around the bottom of the left side windscreen ripped off and the rubber trim strip between the roof rails disappear.

I can't be the only one to have this amount of damage.

This is a modern location where the only thing that contacts the car is the brush tips

Thoughts?

Does the same happen with Touchless car washes?

I have only used this one. How exactly does a "touchless" car wash clean dirt off unless it, you know, touches the vehicle?

I also had troubles with the front license plate being bent so I added a Stainless Steel License Plate Frame which prevented the thin aluminum plate from bending.

The rubber trim strip used to lift on my RAV too. Same thing happened on my wife's Prius. This was going under the dryer. So I put some double sided tape to keep them in place.

My front license plate used to bend too. I bought a license plate mounting plate. It took care of the problem.

No problems using our local car wash on my '11 RAV4. Both licence plates are in frames and the front one also is firmly enclosed in a plastic bracket from an '05 CR-V. No problems either with my wife's '10 CR-V with both licence plates also in frames.

Garage
Me too, never had anything damaged, bent or broken in years of regular car washes(not touchless), if the car wash you're using is causing problems, it's time to use a different car wash.

i will have to try a different location. My plastic plate frame was ripped into at least 2 pieces.

Never seen this before. I expect swirl marks in the paint over time

This is why I mostly hand wash unless I desperately need a wash and don't have
the time.
