New 2018 RAV4 - Clunk Sound - Drive to Reverse

Background:
  • New 2018 RAV4 LE
  • Approximately 120 miles
  • Outside Temperature High 70s to Mid 80s

I just purchased this car, but I noticed that when reverse parking on an incline, it makes a clunk sound when shifting from drive to reverse. I am at a full stop before shifting. I don't notice this sound when reverse parking on a flat surface.

Does anyone have any idea what this might be? I'm not sure if it's just cause it's a new car and is just adjusting.

Thanks

Just a guess, but it could be related to the Hill start assist feature.

I have the same thing on my 2014 LE AWD with 85k kms. It's always done that since I've had it and I don't have the hill start feature.

A lot of cars I have owned will do this. It just the weight of the car being transferred from one set of gears to another.

Does it happen under any other driving/parking conditions?

If you're talking about putting into Park gear when you're finished, maybe use the Hand Brake.
Or does that happen when you first shift into Reverse to Start the procedure?
