Thanks for the insight!

I'll post back with news once I get this done.

Do you know if the Toyota ones come greased, or do you guys grease them when you install?
If I remember right, the bearing already comes greased. I don't replace too many top mounts. Most customers just want a strut with their old top mount. But the few that I have replaced I never greased the bearing

Thanks! I will leave it without grease like I did on the driver’s side (which is fine)

I appreciate everybody’s replies. I will get my new mount delivered from RockAuto this week and get it installed, hoping I can get to the bottom of this!

Well, I got my new mount from RockAuto today...

My other mount was fine, no visible damage or defects to report.

Installed the new mount and made 100% sure to do everything properly (as I had done the first time). I tested it on the bench and could hear the squeaky rubber sound when spinning the mount on the strut and coil assembly. I took the ‘bearing’ (AKA plastic piece) apart and greased it thoroughly, greased all mating surfaces - no noise on the bench. Reinstalled everything on the car and...

The noise is still there!

Dont get me wrong, a quiet rubbery squeak at very low speeds when turning is tolerable, but I am thinking I should have bought Toyota mounts...

I am now stuck with an extra mount and since the other one wasn’t defective, I can’t return anything.

Noise problems are the worst to diagnose. Are you sure it's the strut mount? Maybe the sway bar endlink on that side is making noise? You could disconnect it and drive without it to see if the noise is goes away. That will eliminate the possiblity of it being the problem.

I’m fairly certain it isn’t the swaybar endlink as they are brand new Moog greasable ones, and I greased them yesterday to be sure.

That makes sense. Moog is usually pretty good about making quality aftermarket parts.

I always heard good things about Moog but the links aren’t very nice to be honest - the boots don’t fit too well

Still I don’t think it’s the source of my noise! I guess I’ll live with it.

Just be careful who you allow to detect your 'squeak'!
