moderator approval?

I have written a post in another forum and got a message that read that the post was waiting for moderator approval.
How long is the wait for approval?
And why does the post need approval?

I got the same message and was waiting 4 days and nothing happened - then I just posted today and it went straight through....

Happy smooth driving,

The policy was instituted to combat spam from first time posters most of whom turn out to be legit. It's also why new members can't post links on their first few posts. It may cause some inconvenience but has worked very well. Before that the moderators were very busy with continuous junk removal.
I haven't been a moderator very long and can't speak for the others but I do review and approve new members ASA I see them. Just did one this AM.

Are you enquiring about posting on one of the RAV4 World forums, or about a post on an entirely different site, for example, one about Ford cars?

Thanks for the reply...

That's an odd answer, I had written 4 posts that seemed to be fine and then when I tried to make a 5th post I needed approval.
If I was going to be a spammer, seems I was given 4 chances to set the moderators up to do junk removal.
No spam was sent in my first 4 posts. I'm not going to be posting anything spam-like.
I suppose your reply answers one of my questions, but your answer doesn't really fit with what I've experienced.
And that you have approved some other new member does not answer my second question concerning how long it takes for approval, as the post that apparently needed approval still has not been approved.
Do approvals all happen in the AM?
Or is it just when someone happens to notice the post?

Of course I'm asking about posting in one of the RAV4World forums.

If I had been asking about posting in a different website, I would have asked my questions on that different website, not here on rav4world
Does that happen often? Do members make posts here on rav4world that should actually be posted on a different website?

Sorry phumpher, I certainly don't understand all the idiosyncrasies of the R4W forums. All I do is approve legit members ASA I see them. When I'm not on the road with my motorcycle dyno business I check several time each day. Otherwise I may not check for several days and have to count on the other mods to do so.
