I'm beginning to think these pre-advisory recall letters are a scam, and it's just not Toyota. I've had a standing recall on my '13 Mustang GT for the Takata air bag fiasco for months now. Still no solution. Must be a loop hole in the regs that gets the manufacturers off the hook without them having to fix anything.

Toyota was stung for $16.4 million by the U.S. Gov't. for "failure to notify" the gov't. about the floor mat vs. accelerator pedal situation. Since having paid that fine Toyota is taking steps to make certain that it also notifies owners of any safety situation which could possibly get it into trouble, even though remedies haven't yet been devised or carried out. My home RAV file now has three open recall notices . . . owners are destined to be inundated with them. I'm waiting for one which, for example, would warn of impending braking problems if a snail or slug should happen to crawl up onto a brake rotor . . .remedy to be devised . . .

Ah there is an easy method to protect against this. Just keep a constant spray of very salty water onto the rotor. That will kill said slug and also cause damage which will mean you having to buy lots of replacement parts etc or even a new car when the corrosion gets to bad. Lots more profit for Toyota

( People will know that I am only joking right??? )

My letter only mentioned 2006-2012 MY RAV4s are affected. So you might be ok.

We received our seatbelt notice today as well… had part one of the washer done last month and have yet to receive anything regarding the window switch…..

Cheers!

Yes you're right. This recall for the rear seat cushion frame rubbing against seatbelt affects only 2006-2012 model RAV4 vehicles manufactured between Aug 24, 2006 thru Dec 18, 2012.

So...current gen RAV4's are okay.
