I haven't researched it more to see if it continues to do that if I plug in the USB each time I want to listen.

I believe that the audio system won't let you browse folders while the vehicle is in motion, so that's what I'm guessing you're bumping up against. Though, bear in mind that there are "forward" and "back" controls on the touch screen, and you can use those to at least go to the next or the previous folder, while the vehicle is in motion. These controls really aren't marked in any way, but are just beside the artist / title / etc. text in the display.

The speed of the drive may or may not be a factor, but most USB thumb drives are notoriously slow.

Hmm...I have a 128GB in mine (only about 15GB in use), and its usually ready to go pretty much as soon as I start the car as long as Ive left it plugged in.

Garage
Max folders in device: 3000
Max files in device: 9999
Max files per folder: 255

Has anyone found if the files per folder limit applies to sub-folders? IOW, if a folder has 10 sub-folders are each of the sub-folders also allowed to have 255 files?
