12v socket always on

Interesting observation today.

Had a radar detector plugged into the 12v socket where the QI charger sits.

When turned off the Rav via push button (smart key), Entune stayed on and car keep binging until the 12v was unplugged. Didn't peg Toyota to include an "always on" outlet.

P.S. I've a XLE Premium.

Some cars will keep accessory power on for a certain length of time or until the driver's door is opened. See if opening the door shuts it off.

Help RAV4World members help you by providing your car's operating location in your profile page. Climate can cause a RAV4 in Dallas Wisconsin to experience a different set of issues when compared to the same model in Dallas Texas.

Hrmm. One of the few things I miss about my F250; the front outlets stayed on for I think 15 minutes after shutdown, and the rears for 75 minutes. However, my outlet has shut off with the engine every time (also an XLE P).

Of note, if I remember correctly, the fuse box is close to the battery. It wouldn't be difficult to run a short (fused) wire from the positive terminal of the battery directly into the fuse slot for the 12v outlet, so that you do indeed have "always-on" functionality.
