Question Winter Tires

What make tires would you recommend for the New rav4 2019 ? Some Toyota Dealers recommended me GoodYear Ultra-Grip Winter, some recommended Bridgestone Blizzak WS80 and some recommended Bridgestone’s Blizzak DM-V2 all with Toyota Rally Steel Wheels. Your thoughts would be much appreciated.

Blizzak DM-V1were well recommended when I bought a set for SWMBO's CR-V. Bought a set of DM-V2s for her RAV4 last year. I want to say they worked well, but she has not had to drive much in snow with them. I found a relatively easy-on-the-budget set of steel wheels for them. We use one of them as a spare during the summer; one of the original tires as a spare in the winter. Had to make a sloping platform to make room for the full-size spare.

Consumer Reports rates Cooper Discoverer True North, Hankook Winter Intercept iZ2, Continental Winter Contact SI, and Michelin X-Ice X13 as top performers.

I have run studded Cooper Weathermasters on my '04 Tacoma with good success, but they are noisy because they're studded.

I recommend Michelin X-Ice or Nokian Hakkapeliitta. These are the best two non studded winter tires on the market.

I do NOT recommend the Bridgestone Blizzaks. They perform very well but they will last half as long as the Michelin x-ice and are only very very slightly cheaper.

I'm thinking about trying the upcoming (late- 2019) Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail tires as winters, as "These have a square shoulder design to protect against punctures and include severe snow rating, with an open shoulder for shedding both mud and snow debris." These were announced to be the stock tire on the 2020 Rav4 TRD Off-Road edition. I would be putting these on a 2019 XSE (deposit down). Not sure if that's a good idea or not.

Keep in mind that trail tires are not optimized for snow and ice. Dedicated snow and ice tires have a softer rubber compound and less aggressive tread than trail tires which are a harder compound designed to protect against punctures and more aggressive tread lugs to provide traction in sand, mud, loose gravel and mud.
