Adaptive Headlights

I was planning on getting the adaptive front headlights however I was told from the dealership that they are only being put on cars in certain regions which does not include mine. Does anyone know anything about this and why that might be? I ended up going with the paneramic moonroof instead of the headlights since I had no choice. I couldn’t wait to build one, as I needed the $1000 financing deal. How many of you are going with the adaptive headlights and do you think the standard projector ones in the hybrid will be sufficient?

What different do they do? My '18 Accord Hybrid turns its headlights on an off and switches beams, sometimes annoyingly, on its own and my BIL's Tundra has a knob the lets you adjust their height when towing but what more do Adaptive ones do? Or at least what that needs doing? Manual switches have always worked just fine for me.

Based on my recent test drive of a 2019 RAV 4 Hybrid that was equipped with standard LED projector beam headlights, not the optional adaptive self leveling headlights, the standard LED projector beams are better than the three bulb LED reflector headlights which come standard on gasoline only RAV 4's.

I wasn't able to test drive a RAV 4 with the optional Adaptive headlights, but I did test drive a Camry with them and found them to be really good when making turns and going down hills. For some reason Toyota wouldn't let me order Adaptive Headlights and a Panoramic Moonroof on a RAV 4 Hybrid so I chose the upgraded headlights. The automatic high beam feature worked flawlessly on the RAV 4 that I test drove.

I may be able to build a car with the headlights if they renew the financing cash rebate deal but it will be a long wait to get it. I would be getting a hybrid with the panaramic sunroof the middle of April. Are the headlights worth the wait?

Those are not the adaptive headlights. Adaptive headlights turn and shine where you turn your steering wheel too and tilt when your going on hills.

I can't give you a definitive answer because I haven't done a direct comparison on the 2019 RAV 4. It also depends on the type of driving you do. If you drive mostly on interstate highways, Think the standard projector LED's would be fine. If you drive primarily on curvy/hilly secondary roads then the optional adaptive headlights might be an advantage.

I wasn't impressed at all with the low beam coverage of the standard three bulb reflector headlights that come on gasoline RAV 4's.

I can't comment on the adaptive lights in the Rav4 but in my wife's Tiguan they are great. I love how they move to illuminate the road while going around a curve and keep them level on bumpy roads. Although I'm not happy they are now going with LED headlights over HID. Not nearly as good.

That feature is not available on *any* Rav4 model, nor for any Toyota model, except possibly the Land Cruiser.
It is only available on Lexus.
Toyota vehicles are available only with either automatic on/off, or automatic high-beam.

Wrong. They are listed as optional on RAV4 Hybrid Limited. Also available on the 2020 Corolla. Tech starts to trickle into the non-luxury brand slowly as models get full redesigns. Camry only has the level control LED projectors however.
