Click on maps button, then click on the grid looking thing on the touchscreen. Turn on predictive efficient driving. It's basically a stored memory of driving habits at certain points. Supposedly it charges or discharges the battery more aggressively when approaching parts in your commute that your car has taken note of. So out of my office, there is a long downhill. I imagine it charges more aggressively so it can expend it later. Not exactly sure, but also, it marks those points with green leaves on the nav.

Picked up an XSE yesterday. I am just under a quarter of the first tank and the MPG has been continuously rising. Now at 37 MPG. Mostly highways so far.

Don’t forget to check your tire pressure. First thing I did when I got home yesterday. All tires were at 45 PSI. Reduced them to 36 this morning before driving it anywhere.

The first tank drove in eco mode, about 70% driven around 53mph, other 30% about 32mph, the computer showed 41mpg, but hand calculation was 38mpg. Not disappointed at all. My truck was averaging 19.5mpg with the same commute.

I got 37mpg on my first tank. I'm pretty happy with the mileage considering it occurred when I was driving up into the mountains for a ski trip. What was surprising was when I filled up the tank, it only took 10 gallons even though the needle was closer to empty than the 1/4 marker. Given that it has 14.5 gallon capacity, I'm a little confused why the needle was so low when it had 4.5 gallons left. Maybe the gauge is setup to be very conservative?

2019 XSE hybrid owner- I have filled up twice now and both times after fuel light came up, filled with 9.7-9.9 gallons. The tick mark didn’t make it all the way up to “FULL”. Has anyone else had this issue?

Also not even ten gallons so light pops up with 3-4 gallons left? Since it is a 14.5 gallon tank.

Yea, I think it's set up to be conservative being if you run out of gas in a Toyota hybrid, you can't just fill up the tank and start it. It has to be towed to a Toyota dealership for charging. But apparently there's a lot of leeway.

Quote:
We decided to experience what some daring Prius owners have reported, and drove a Lexus HS 250h hybrid, which has a similar drivetrain to the Prius, until it ran out of gas. We picked a non-highway loop with some mild hills and drove quickly enough that we were able to keep the main battery fully charged, but not too quick that we used battery power to augment acceleration.

When the trip computer alerted us that our distance until empty was zero miles, we kept driving. And driving. Two hours and about 55 miles later, the HS 250h finally ran out of fuel. At first it wasn't noticeable, except that the car was quieter. However, after only half a mile, the car became significantly slower, and wouldn't accelerate beyond 15 mph. We weren't yet in danger of killing the main battery, and so we added some gas and the car was back to normal.

My XLE Premium (non-hybrid) only shows 25.5 mpg average on the dash. Still on first tank, I was about to fill up on way home today. Hope it increases, my 2014 Camry was getting 30 mpg average.
