2020 Model

It's very early but since i've never owned a Toyota I figured I would ask. What updates do you feel they will make with the Rav4 for 2020? Toyta do anything different than other manufacturers?

If I'm remembering correctly, it's the RAV4 that doesn't have Android Auto. (I've been looking at too many cars lately) If I'm correct, then I hope that Android Auto comes in 2020.

Other than that, any changes would be very minor for a second year model.

Toyota could do worse than to take the advice of contributors to this forum, but top of the list would be to improve sound-proofing to all trim levels.

The 2020 Highlander will have Android Auto, so I'd expect it on the Rav4 as well.

I had seen an article, maybe cars.com that stated Toyota was aware and will be fixing that in 2020 models? It does seem Hybrids are quieter than the gas models?

If the Canadian plant gets their act together, maybe the Canadian limited models will see the Panoramic sunroof included or as an option.

You can expect the 2020 to have a hood insulator, CR made this statement in their review.

Quote:
Noise
The raucous-sounding engine is a major disappointment. It has a gritty throb that's very pronounced and unbecoming of a $30,000 vehicle. Its hardly a consolation that road and wind noise stay in the background. Most competitors are far quieter. Toyota says it will address this problem for the 2020 model year.
The Ruby Flare Pearl Limited prototype at the NYAS had a hood insulator, same as the XSE.

I thought I'd read that the 2019 Rav4 hybrids, unlike the gas models, do have hood insulation.

To those of you miffed with Toyota for not having offered car play for Android, I side with Toyota in their delay. The issue was a disagreement over privacy, an issue in which I'm considerably interested.

Every HV that I've seen with the hood open including the XLE at my local dealer (pic) had the hood insulator, and the part number for the insulator only fits the HV when checking VIN at online OEM dealer parts sites. The XSE was the only HV at the NYAS in the video and the Limited is the only gas model I've ever seen with a hood insulator, I've seen dozens of gas model hoods without the insulator.

What they'll probably change is including Android Auto and some shuffling/price adjustments of various packages.

What I hope they'll change: 10-way power driver's seat and 8-way power passenger seat on Limited trim like the top level CX-5 and Forester. More adjustable passenger seat on all trims except LE. Rear seat releases from the cargo area like on most if not all other competitors. More sound deadening.

It's almost definitely not about privacy. If it was Toyota would have just put Carplay in their vehicles years ago. Google says they aren't collecting any data except for UI inputs and if the vehicle is in motion to lockout certain features. Besides, if it was, why put it in their vehicles now? Google hasn't changed anything about Android Auto's data collection policy. Not to mention, if Google flat out lied about their policy the FTC would fine them a hefty sum of cash.

I'm betting Toyota cheaped out on Entune 2.0 hardware so it wasn't fast enough to run CarPlay/Android Auto and whatever they did to make Entune 3.0 made it hard to integrate those two systems.
