Upgrading speakers

I am looking to upgrade the factory speakers in my 04 RAV4, are there some special adapters I need for installing the speakers? Iím not worried about the wiring, just the mounting.

You will need this speaker adapter and wiring harness. If you are handy you can make your own speaker adapters out of plywood or mdf wood but you must paint it. Alternatively you can use plastic like the ones used for cutting boards which is water proof and needs no painting. You would use the old speakers as a template. (just fyi the center hole should be smaller) You can also make your own wire connectors using crimps and cutting off the factory speaker wire harness. There is a thread that shows how to make speaker adapters.
