Those with a rear facing camera, do you have tinted windows? Does your camera display stuff at night?

Yes, I have done it and it works fine. My dashcam has an exposure setting that allows you to adjust the exposure index if the recorded image is too dark or too light.

Help RAV4World members help you by providing your car's operating location in your profile page. Climate can cause a RAV4 in Dallas Wisconsin to experience a different set of issues when compared to the same model in Dallas Texas.

I have 1 Mobius rear mounted through factory tinted glass. Great recording at daylight and only so-so at night.

2016 RAV4 Hybrid XLE. 3 dashcams, 2 X Mobius dashcam A, C2 lens, 1X Toguard CE685. 3M door edge and headlight protection, OEM trunk lining, Weathertech window visors.

I use Garmin's Dash CAms. They have a magnetic mount instead of suction cups. Can't tell you how many suction cups have worn out / broken prematurely. I have a cam in the front AND rear Windshield. Heavy tint on the back - no problem picture wise.

I use a Garmin 45 simple to use. No crazy setup. Its wifi and will download to your phone on the garmin app. I've had it for 6 months and have had no issues with it. I just got rid of my 2012 Rav4 and got a 2019 Rav4. Like the other poster said dash cams are not car specefic. It does give you a since of safety. Good luck.

I use a Transcend DP550 now and have had very good luck with that brand. I had a DP520 earlier until the battery inside died out over time, RMA'ed up to the 550 under warranty. Before that, was a Drivepro 220, which now lives in the Mrs' Camry. I have recorded many accidents and reported many drivers doing stupid dangerous things over the years, and most importantly, used the footage in my own accident for insurance. You would be so amazed to see how much physical body movement occurs in a second during an accident moment, it answers a lot of injury questions. I would always recommend the two way versions for that reason. I also just recently installed another camera in the back of the Rav just below the center light, that one is a BlackVue DR750S by Pitasoft, just to have a different view, one that can see the sides in the event of another t-bone should it occur again. That one also will have a birds eye view of any tailgaters or rear endings. Too many bad drivers in SoCal!
