A battery miracle!

Today my gal's battery gave up the ghost right in our garage. So what you say....the miracle is that it lasted 6.5 years! I've made many comments here about how batteries just don't last past 3 years in Southern heat but this one defied all predictions. I've NEVER had a battery go past 37 months since I moved back to Texas many decades ago. This one was the only exception. I realize batteries sport a long life up north but down here it's a whole different animal.

So, what battery was it, RF? Mine are only lasting 2 years. I want to get one like yours for next time!

Wow my 84 Month Lexus battery installed by the dealer the previous owner purchased from bit the dust after 4 years, our 2017 WRX OEM battery didn't even last 2 years and less than 20k miles. What kind lasted that long? I upgraded to an AGM in the RAV now, hoping it lasts a good while.

Move to coastal Oregon. My OEM RAV4's battery went for 7 years, still started the engine and worked fine but I replaced it as a precautionary measure when my battery load tester showed that the CCAs had dropped to the high 300s. The OEM Panasonic in my wife's CR-V was replaced after 8 years, don't know whether it actually needed replacing it since she had the dealer replace it based upon their recommendation without my having the opportunity to test it myself.

I'm not moving again but thanks. IF I could even find a Panasonic battery I would have coughed up for it. I've never even seen one and they are unheard of in these parts. Common reply is "They make car batteries?"

The one that lasted so long was an Auto Zone Gold. I had the same battery and it croaked just shy of the 36 month over the counter warranty. The new one (free exchange) did about the same thing. Got both our batteries at Walmart this time, 3 year over the counter exchange and under $100 before tax, two years prorated after that. The Auto Zone Gold prices escalated BIG time with the same specs as the Wally battery so no go.

Thanks to Dr. Dyno for the tip on the Wallyworld batteries. In all honesty I just flat lost track of when I put that battery in her car. Had I looked at the log in the car I would have replaced it long ago........I'm slipping in my old age.
