Cabin air filter got wet after heavy rain storm?

Hello Everyone! I have a 2011 RAV4 4cyl base. Yesterday I noticed after a huge rainstorm my vents weren't pushing hardly any air on any setting. I immediately thought to check the cabin air filter and I found it to be soaking wet. I checked my AC drain hose and it is clear. today i also sprayed the heck out of my car with a garden hose and only found a drop or two on the paper i put in the air filters spot. I even sprayed directly into the opening on the wiper cowel with no results.. There is traces of water inside where the air filter sits but i couldn't replicate the problem. Could it be possible for the water to be sucked in while the blower is on in the rain? Thanks.

Guess you need to try the garden hose with the blower on.

I tried looking into the recall but I couldn't seem to find it. Do you mind sharing which one? Thanks

In the 4.3 TSB forum, the cowl TSB originally came out in 2006.

My rav4 is a 2011 though. Does the TSB still apply for it?

Dunno, mine was a 2006, the TSB fixed it, but others have had issues with later years, read the TSB thread.

It is a recall not a TSB. There are two types and the one I am talking about is only a few years old is a recall for certain regions that can rust the wiper arm bolts due to the cowl leaking.

There is a recall on the cowl. The recall replaced the cowl with a new improved one that could leak water and rust the wiper arm bolt. There is also another recall to replace the wiper arm bolt that can rust and loosen due to the cowl leaking. I did not get a recall notice but I read about it and got both fixed. The cowl recall is for specific regions that are effected by road salt used in winter so not every place is going to get the recall.

By the sounds of it you probably did not get the cowl recall and wiper arm bolt recall done.
