With the help of snow, this picture shows how air flows over and under the shield.
A small hole in the center allows water to drain. It's probably 1/4" but half of it is blocked by the hood gasket.
A decent sized section, between the headlight and grille, allows water to drain. At speed, air passes through this gap.
The end of the shield does not extend to the hood line. The shield sits about an inch above the hood.
