Why not find your answer under a car of your choice in a parking lot?
That's how I found out which 4.3s had the exposed vapor recovery canister and which ones had it protected. A Walmart parking lot had all the answers.

A little tip. If you have a 2WD and you are going to do your entire pipe. Try to install it as straight as possible. If you need to make some bents. Try the mandrel bent pipes. You can find them on Summit Racing cheap. It will empty out the exhaust better and it helps if some where down the road you want to mod the engine. Intake, fuel and what not. Now is the time to plan ahead. So then you won't regret it in the future. :wall Invest once!

I'm planning on replacing from the cat back. Mines 4wd. Plan is create as much clearance as possiblem remove all the stupid bends and squashed bit under the rear diff, probably remove mid silencer and go for a smaller rear one.

im thinking of having a new b pipe made out of stainless for ours as the oem one looks like a pea shooter but im not sure on the size buddy

Like I said above, 2 1/4 to 2.50 stock engine. Even though if you install a header and intake. Basically its still a stock engine. It's only breathing a little better. But when you go into turbocharging etc. you will need at least a 3 inch exhaust.

Just tell the installer to install it close to the chassis. But I doubt that you will have ground clearance. Mine is lowered almost two inches front and rear and it clears everything and every where I've been. Be it rocks, sand, with 2 1/4 pipe, one resonator, one CC, and two mufflers.

I guess the OEM diameter is 2.0 inches. If you are planing to install a header go no more then 2.25, 2.50 is the max on a stock engine. If you are going Turbo, go the 3.0 inches.
where did you find out this bit of information? stealership says OEM header outlet is 1.5" btw.

Check that, (I stand corrected) your right. 1.5 from OEM exhaust pipe. The exhaust from OEM, at least in my country are not headers. They are called manifolds. If I'm not mistaken (check me if I'm wrong). The Pace Setter header is about 3 to 3.5 collector? For the street, with a stock engine. 2.25 to 2.5 pipe. Turbo, 3.0, depending on boost, maybe more.

ill ask again. where did you hear about this bit of info that is bolded? from a legitimate source (toyota, etc etc) or has it just been your personal opinion?

i ask because going from a 1.5" to a 2.5" will result in a decrease in back pressure. moreso if you remove the cat (most people do when upgrading to a larger exhaust pipe). a decrease in back pressure (something NA cars need) will result in poor fuel economy and a decrease in HP as well. :wall:wall

the header u can change to 1.5 inch S.Steel 4-2-1 , with longer the "2" length, then in the middle keep on oem 2 inch, you can replace the stock middle silencer box ( which is 2.25 / 2.5 inch) or remove it, at the rear parts can up to 2.25 inch and looking for a 2.5 inch S flow muffler. This setup can give you a great feeling on high rev ( 4k-6k rev ).

PS: the stock rear muffler just 2.0 inch ... and big heavy muffler box :(

Sorry to take so long in answering. I've been busy. Well, i went from the stock setup to a 2 1/4 setup but installing a performance CC. A resonator, and a Magnaflow muffler along with a Cherry Bomb muffler. It's quiet, and fuel econ. is equal to the same type of driving. Works for me.
