Ok first so that the really diehards who luv toyota (like my brother and sis)who have own more of them than me my first. And not starting any flash war or hate toward toyoa. But below some things I find goofy:

1. No small storage area with cover for coins had one on old car.
2. Only have le 2013 and no entune or nav. but hea unit should be better, phone contacts won't transfer over. Makes u wonder if they did it on purpose for lower level units. Head unit should work no matter what model u buy. Or common send out a software update. Dealer so oo well my phone works. Well not everyone owns a high price smart phone or a newest top of the line smart one.
3.Seem all have cheaped out on intermitten wiper motor only one speed what?
4.At this point your manual should be up to date and correspond with what you are trying to show. Dont show cargo net cover are when u mean cargo cover! Get proof reader really.
5. if u look in center dash board vent it looks like when first viewing the whole center vent has air coming out of both sides. Only one side, could be because of airbag storage on passenger side but again really. I think its just too cheap to make more airflow.
6. Sounds like i have sour grapes no just pointing out some things. AGAIN I like my rav but some things are annoying that is all I am saying. If did not like it would not have bought it. And did not feel like going to the limited model either. So i am fine too.:laugh

Well, no car will be perfect, they all have something goofy about them.

1. No small storage area with cover for coins had one on old car.
The 2012 and earlier had this. Coin storage in the upper console compartment. Don't know why they got rid of it.

2. Only have le 2013 and no entune or nav. but hea unit should be better, phone contacts won't transfer over. Makes u wonder if they did it on purpose for lower level units. Well, the factory head units have been disappointing for a long time. Adding a touch screen to a crappy head unit is no improvement. The whole Entune thing is a sham, unless you have a smart phone with unlimited data plan the thing is useless.

3.Seem all have cheaped out on intermitten wiper motor only one speed what?

Again, the 2012 and earlier models all came with variable intermittent wipers, even the cheapest base models.

4.At this point your manual should be up to date and correspond with what you are trying to show. Dont show cargo net cover are when u mean cargo cover! Get proof reader really.

Yep, you may also see options in the manual that were never offered, like lane departure warning and auto-dimming headlights. These are now offered in the 2014 models.

I think when they designed the prototype, they discovered more air was somehow coming out of the right vent, so they added a little deflector to even out the airflow.

I think overall you'll find the positives of the RAV4 will greatly outweigh the negatives, especially as you put more miles on it. Enjoy your RAV4, and don't sweat the small stuff!

So, bottom line you pretty much love the vehicle, cool.

I think it's only human nature to feel like you do. It's a little but of buyer's remorse when you discover that you've spent all this money after weeks or months of research only to discover that your new vehicle is not perfect. I too noticed some of the deficiencies you mentioned when I brought home my new Rav4 last summer. You'll probably get over it, as did I, very quickly and then just spend your time enjoying this wonderfully built, great vehicle.

Exactly. It's easy to dwell on the negatives or things that you may have overlooked. I do it too. It's not until you do things like get 33 MPG on a highway trip or easily cruise through freshly fallen snow (Limited AWD in my case) that you stop and appreciate the positive aspects. What it comes down to is that NO VEHICLE is going to be perfect and meet every one of your needs. None of them. The trick is to stay positive and be grateful for what needs/wants it *does* meet.

And if that doesn't work, well, then you'll just have to hang on to it as long as you can before trading it in on something else (and starting the cycle all over again).

I was a little annoyed that my Rav does not have a coin tray too!

But, other than that tiny annoyance, I absolutely love this car. I literally adore everything about it and I love it more and more every time I drive it.

Yes, the dratted disappearing Coin Tray. The lack of one in the 2013 Rav4 was not a deal breaker for me, thankfully. I had one in my 2003 Matrix and never used it anyway. I used the giant ashtray with lid for my coin. When I sold the Matrix I kept the ashtray (nasty habit :)) and put it in the center console of my new car. Gave up a cup holder and gained a coin holder. Life is full of little compromises I guess.
:wink

Realising that this is a 4.4 thread my major annoyance for my '11 V6 is the mandatory automatic gearbox - no manual one available. Also in general in this price range there is the inability to buy a vehicle optioned exactly as desired, unlike what it was like 40 or so years ago. But at least for '11 Toyota offered an upgrade options package for the Base model with upgraded upholstery and sound system, color-keyed door handles, alloy wheels, cargo cover and floor mats (mats I replace with Weathertech ones), powered sunroof (which I easily could do without), DRLs, and a Bluetooth option, if I recall for slightly above $1000, plus a tow package option (strangely minus the required wiring harness).

For most purchasers now almost any vehicle purchase involves compromises and one has to balance price with a lot of other factors. All in all my RAV involves the best personal compromise and despite the annoyances I'm quite pleased with it. Especially with the V6 it's a blast to drive.

I bought one of the small ashtray things with a lid (sold by Toyota) for the cup holder and I use that for my change also. Works great.
Lack of a coin tray was definitely (obviously) not a deal breaker for me either, just a very minor disappointment....more Like "Hey...where's the coin tray? Oh well....."

Great minds think alike! :D

I'm annoyed by the fact that the passenger can't enter anything into the navi while driving. You'd think it would be logical and not too difficult to wire it so that if the passenger sets off the seat sensor, it would work.

That wouldn't have been a deal breaker for the vehicle purchase, but maybe the navi feature.

I just use that little triangular cubby by the front cup holder as a coin tray, nothing else I have fits in it anyway
My cell phone fits in there, so I use it for that.
I have OCD...I tried putting my change in there but being able to see the coins in the tray actually makes my OCD flare up. I have a thing about order and neatness. It's one of my triggers.

Ahhh, understandable, my cell phone fits nicely on the little tray under the USB/AUX ports (so much so I'm thinking of putting a QI wireless charging unit under it), so the cubby is just empty space for me

I keep my iPod in that little tray-it is the perfect size for it.
I use the same tray for my cell phone, I thinking they might have thought that is what people would use it for. Not deal breaker but a covered coin tray that would have been great. LOL.

Again do you think anyone from toyota ever reads these forums. And if they do, do you think they even care what people say on them? Me I do not know?

I think Toyota probably has some guy sitting in his little, windowless office reading all the feedback from owners.
And yes, I may be delusional, but I do like to think they care what people say.

Smart manufacturers montior the forums. I know Nissan does. Over on the NICO forums, someone posted about their brand new rogue CVT trans going poop (imagine that) and someone from Nissan contacted them on the forums about it. So I know at least Nissan watches. I would hope Toyota does. And I really hope Honda does (Honda? Are you there? Please bring the powerplant in the next gen CTR to U.S. Civics... I would LOVE a turbo 4)

What Annoys me the most is the sealed transmission..... I wonder when someone gonna do a detailed diy on how to change tranny fluid. At the dealer last week for complimentarry service up to 20k and they had "zak transmission flush " advertised as a procedure they do there.... I just want a simple drain and filll to do myself
