Awesome Things to Know about the RAV4.4

2015 RPM Eco light bug you?

Does the ECO light on the RPM gauge bug you since it goes from on to off depending on your RPM's? You can turn it off!
It's also known as the ECO light zone display.
(This is not the same thing as the ECO Mode light which illuminates when you put the vehicle into ECO Mode)

With the vehicle running and your display showing the actual vehicle mileage at ODO....
Hold down the DISP button on the steering wheel until the words ECO ON or ECO OFF appear.
Click the DISP until you get the option you want On or Off.
Once you have the option you want displaying hold down DISP to save.

I can't say it bugged me per say and it was a while after I discovered the ability to turn it off that I actually did it. Now that the deed is done, I have absolutely no incentive to turn it back on again!


It certainly hasn't effected my fuel economy any! ;)

This is something that has bugged me but not enough to try to figure out how to turn it off.

I just found the hidden storage tray! Thanks. I also found a rear cargo light on the left rear side panel. Apparently the switch was turned off at the dealership.
Ok what are the chrome eyelets in the cargo area used for??

Wait-you have a light in the cargo area?
What year?

I have a 2014 XLE....I don't *think* I have a light in the cargo area. Do I??? lol

My complaint is not that it is not bright enough... it's bright in the wrong place.

It only illuminates the left side, and I find that it is constantly blinding me when I look toward the left side.

Overhead would be far better... I guess this was some engineer's idea of providing light under the cargo cover when pulled back.

I tried this with mine but it did not work but I did not have the FOB on me.
I'm guessing that it needs that for this feature to work?

I discovered a setting by accident within Techstream that sheds a bit more light on the operation of the light.

There is an ECO display that can be turned on. The upper left part of the LCD becomes a "gauge":

________________eco_|________
____________________|_______|

As you drive, a bar appears on the lower scale.
As long as the bar is below the vertical break, the ECO light is on.
