I heard from some site that a 89' Celica header exhaust manifold will fit on a 96' RAV4...

Does anyone have info on that?

Another note, does anyone know a cheap easy way to get an inch or two of lift?
I know there is OEM kits out there but they run about $500.

Free your intake!!
-Buy a $20 high flow cone cotton filter from Amazon. Increased acceleration, increased fuel economy, sounds sweet.

Cut weight!!
-Take the metal rocker panels off the sides of your RAV4. Increased clearance by a bit, cut weight of vehicle by about 15lb.

-Take off the stock muffler. Shortened exhaust=less back pressure=more power. (You can use a $3 muffler hanger and a strong bolt to hold it tight.) Cuts weight of vehicle by about 25lb.

-Take off the spare. I only actually did this because my spare has a flat and I took it off the repair it. Even though, the cut of weight has made a difference in feel.

-Take out one backseat. Even with one seat gone, you can still squeeze two people on the one that is there. Effectively making your 5 seater into a 4 seater. Increased cargo room, cut weight by about 20lb.

 Yes, the 86-89 Celica Header from Pacsetter or OBX Racing will fit. I'd specifically recommend the OBX. Yes, it's expensive but it's construction is a lot better then the Pacesetter and will last a lot more years. Pacesetter will last three years, OBX will last 10 years.

 Use Amsoil or Royal Purple synthetic oil in your Transaxle, you will pickup some more ponies. Especially if you have a stick.

:thumbs_up: Ground your entire electrical system. You get;

 • Full electrical power distribution throughout system
 • Maximizes electric efficiency
 • Increases overall response
 • Prevents voltage load drop to headlight
UIn this forum, check for Derek pdf hereRAV4 World - Favorite Links Look for Derek Nishimura. Simple, very cheap, and it works. Trust me, it does.:wink

Ground your muffler system. Yes, you heard me, GROUND YOUR MUFFLER SYSTEM, to the chassis. You muffler will last for eternity. I did this to mine, 12 years ago and I still have the same setup.

You can spend a fortune and a 4.3 V-6 will still just flat walk away from you big time. Trade up to a 4.3 V-6 and enjoy the new found acceleration. Just a matter of fact, not dumping on you.

Before you blow some money BUYING THOSE PRODUCTS. "DON'T TOUCH THEM WITH A TEN FOOT POLE".
My brother had a Honda Civic with a V-Tech engine. It had almost everything you can install to that engine for street racing. It did high 12s in the quarter with MT slick tires.

Before going turbo, he wanted to extract the most out of the engine N/A. So he started to research those products that you've pointed out. He decided to go with the Apexi-NEO. It was a tip he picked up at the track. When he installed it, it was a disaster. The engine sputtered and the spark plugs were showing
signs of a rich mixture despite having a good electrical system. The problem was when V-Tech was activated, it flooded the chamber with gas, tripling the amount of fuel. So, we went to the Apexi-NEO computer and instead of flooding the chamber with gas. We just leaned out the mixture. When we started the engine, it screamed to 10,000RPM. The idea was to achieve stoichiometric mixture for the Honda V-Tech engine. Which is the ideal ratio of air to fuel. Non of the products that you pointed out above achieve this. It doesn't end there. I installed the Apexi-NEO to my RAV4. I did the same, lean out the mixture. I've said it a thousand time and no one believes me. But I can run with any SUV N/A V6 and give them a run for their money. This pass week, an AWD Volvo was the last victim on the freeway. I waited for him until he could catchup. but after a while, he knew he didn't have anything for my RAV4. At least I made a believer out of him.

Of course my RAV4 has a lot of other goodies. But it is still a truck-let. Ifyou can see the picture, my RAV has a TRD Short shifter, ans if you look closly, you can see the MSD-6A. ;)

Yes, the 89 Celica intake manifold will fit on the stock engine, though I suggest you do the full motor swap as it will be a massive upgrade.

If for some reason you cant afford that, then the above recommendations are excellent. What I did with mine was remove all of the seats, and installed two super light Recaro racing seats out of a Lancer EVO which dropped the curb weight substantially. I would guess it's probably an 80lbs savings.

Another way to reduce weight is to remove the windows. I installed nets on the windows which is a major weight reduction. Removed the window regulators as well now that the windows have been removed.

I plan on removing the rear bumper and designing a lighter, carbon fiber bumper that will accommodate my "modified rear end".

When I upgraded engines, I removed the power steering unit, and a/c unit out of my Rav which reduced quite a bit of weight as well.

I say, I say, you just, you just, I say you just gone spoil it for everyone boy.
Actually I "hopped up" an '03 Corolla :) and an '04 Accord both four cyl. five speed manual. I spent a small fortune and they did run better than average. As soon as my better half bought her V-6 RAV and I drove it I realized the error of my ways. I bought one.
