How/what does this feel like?

I have a odd shudder at the first start of the day. First drive of the day, I start it up, let it idle for about a minute, then begin slowly driving. The first shift while rolling from gear 1 to 2 is rough as hell. (Its around 20km when it shifts) Wondering would this be similar to what happened to you?

I asked at the service desk when I took it in for oil change. First they tried to sell me a trans flush but quickly shifted gears when I mentioned there was a TSB and they acknowledged it and took care of me.

Drives better now and the mileage has increased a bit too. I supposed the new programming helped there, Up to 28 avg from 26.8

Good to know. Just had my 2013 XLE with 109K in today for same shudder issue. Dealership acknowledged shudder and is looking into to torque converter campaign.
Thanks.
Received word back from dealer and they are going to replace the torque converter at no charge. I am over the original 100000 KM powertrain warranty at 109000 KM - Ontario Canada dealership.

Marksm: Is the TSB extension you mention in the US or Canada? My Canadian dealership called back today to say they made a mistake and I'll have to pay 35% of the cost because I am over the 100000 KM powertrain warranty. The 35% is better than 100 but I'm looking for some backup info to contact Toyota direct.
Thanks.

Mine was a 1-2 second shudder in 4th or 5th gear on cold transmission at about 40 mph.

I have mine in for this right now. Too bad this doesn't cover the freaking wheel bearings that just failed at 63,000 miles. So far, this has been the worst experience with any Toyota I have ever owned. This thing rattles and shakes worse than the 2000 Echo with 300,000 miles I had before this.

I am so glad for this post. Thanks OP. My 14 Limited was shuddering at 40km and 60km when I press down on the accelerator. The shuddering briefly stops once i eased up on the accelerator at those speeds. But continue to shudder once applied again. Took it to the dealership and got it fixed. Thank goodness I got that "iffy" extended warranty on the powertrain. Covered my est. 2.4k of it being fixed in the shop.

Your factory powertrain warranty is 100,000miles/160,000km
I thought that too but we bought the car second hand so we assumed that the warranty expired. My husband thought it was weird that when he took it to the shop the mechanic said that the rav4 manufacturer warranty was expired. It was when my husband mention that we have the extended warranty that the mechanic says it was ok.
